Except slavery hasn't ended. There are more slaves now than in the 1800s. My work includes human trafficking. It's horrendous and pervasive. To give whites, in particular the British, credit, they were the first to make slavery illegal (1834), more than 30 years before the Americans (July 9, 1868, when the 14th Amendment was ratified).
