Waves of immigration (not an "invasion", that feels like xenophobes today calling central American refugees to the US an "invasion") and poor governance by the British predictably caused tension and violence. (IIUC most of the violence was directed against Jewish communities in those days, ~100 years ago?) But why does any of that matter wrt. this question?
