Sure. But legally they can't still claim *ownership* of a copy unless it was provided by a dvd or USB stick. The license basically assumes a "copy" exists somewhere and grants that copy those rights.
But I haven't visited this topic in decades, maybe they have fixed it. This was a huge thing 15 years ago.
