If she was IV injecting she probably got endocarditis (fungal/bacterial heart infection) from dirty needles and not cleaning the skin properly before shooting up. That can cause septic emboli flicking up to the brain and if there is enough of an infectious mass the CT surgeons have to go in and clean it out, antibiotics won't do the job alone
