Just watched "Johnny Mnemonic" for the very first time. My spouse loved the film when it came out in 1995 and was eager for me to see it, and I was interested in seeing another of Reeves's early work (just after Speed) and a William Gibson adaptation.

It fared better than expected, and after learning how much Sony interfered trying to capitalize on Speed, I wish they had also made a director's cut. It was originally intended to be a low-cost ironic take on science fiction films, but was recut by the studio to be an overly serious action film. Reeves was quoted as saying giving the wooden delivery of the lines was exhausting.

But there were so many elements I recognized in later video games that the movie lives on through them.
