but it would be beneficial in serial passaging to adapt to cell culture with human cells (or any animal that has the same receptor, so mink cells or whatever). that's my point. doing serial passaging in cells with the proper receptor for a furin cleavage site to do the thing, results in high selective pressure encouraging one to be selected for.
I still think it was a lab leak of an accidentally virilized virus, but like I said, haven't bathed in the glow of information on the subject for quite a while, so I could be wrong or out of date
