"Don't You Forget About Me" is a great example of an (intentinoally) undercompressed drum mix which gives it a lot of punch and impact (and a more live sound) at the expense of being a little harsh (and preventing the track from winning(?) the loudness war). (Personally I love it.)
The cassette I had of it back then was a bootleg with way too much treble on it. The snare drum was downright painful.
