Been musicking for a bit again, today and yesterday. Have come to a realisation: I'm often working on tracks that sound like music produced by a band (guitar, drums etc) *not* because that's what I want my music to sound like, but because I want to sample that music as part of something else.
I think I'm doing the equivalent of cleaning/polishing up layers of a huge wall with a very small toothbrush.
