No, the problem is they follow their conscience, but it is not a well-formed conscience.
In the past, I used to watch people who were fairly ignorant but they participated greatly in society and democracy because they had a well-formed conscience.
And that can only happen with self restraint, self respect, and God. Things that are rare today.
