So, watched some Mike Holt videos and I'm just going with #10 ground wire to the service panel. From what he said, this seems to be all that is required by NEC, and besides, it's also the wire they used back to the panel when they put satellite TV in here. Unlike a lot of hams, I'm not delusional enough to think I can stop a direct strike in its tracks, all a surge protector is for is for transient voltages, and transients do not require #4 or #6.
