I believe the U.S. Information Agency that he led was VOA's parent. When I was a kid – a long time ago but past Murrow's time — I listened to the VOA on shortwave a lot. Learning the schedules and picking up broadcasts by tuning the analog dial was a great pasttime — made a big world feel a little more familiar and always interesting.
