Papers like this make me think bigger thoughts. The fact that note taking longhand was more effective than typing on a laptop made me think of Pavel Samsonov and his comments about friction. It also makes me feel that as getting students to use paper and pen is likely to fail, what WOULD a computer/tablet/phone note taking app actually look like?
