Also ask yourself what viewpoint you have listened to recently that was diametrically oposed to your own opinion. Often enough there isn't one because it's much more comfortable to stay at the local optima by only consuming content confirming your bias.
Being able to empathize with an opponents viewpoint is a skill that not enough people practise or appreciate.

The first step is to find arguments for their view. Often enough people fail here because they construct strawmen that really only serve their preexisting bias that the other side is wrong.

If you can't find genuine arguments for their viewpoint you can't possibly have a well informed opinion of your own and as such the likelihood is high that your own opinion may simply be imprinted on you by your social setting.

Asking "why"-questions over and over again can help break down the oponents opinion until the underlying reasons are found.

Many times people will find that they are simply arguing past each other.
