why I've stopped using terms like "non-binary:" negations vs subversions
negations—"not-thats"—can't exist without what they aren't; the language itself still enforces whatever it isn't as the standard (I call this "neoliberal identification")
subversions on the other hand are their own things; they reinvent meaning, not subtract it
a world with no gender binary is also one with no "gender non-binary;" its distinction from something nonexistent would make the word—the whole concept—obsolete
