For the past 4 or 5 years I've gone out, several nights a week, and dispatched any slugs brave enough to find a meal on my dahlias, french marigolds and miniature hostas.
My conscience delighted in the advice of #Gardening guru #Monty_Don that healthy plants will be able to thrive without anti slug measures. With his words ringing in my ears I have up my patrols.
Two months later I have no marigolds, a few dahlia stalks and hostas like sieves. Oh and lots of fat slugs.
