All I have to say about this is, it's pretty ironic that Joseph Campbell, the hero's-journey monomyth guy, also said the following:
"the great spiritual conflict of today is not merely...between religion and science, but between religion and the whole context of modern morality, science and art - i.e., modern life - insofar as the religious mind insists on holding to...archaic moral and scientific [frameworks]"
