Self-hosting on the clearnet isn't really an answer to censorship in any long-term way.
One's ISP can decide to just drop one, and then what? Get one's own AS number & pay for peering? One can just be shunned anyway.
Effectively, the ability to determine the source and destination of any given communication inherently breaks any notion of free association. Depending on willful actors capable of interference for all interactions is only the most direct and obvious application of that problem.
