#WritersCoffeeClub Aug 18: Coolness, humour, strict necessity. How do you balance them in your work?
I take issue with the question. Coolness and humour are necessary. They make the story fun to read. They draw in the audience I want. They communicate tone and character. I will say this: if a joke or something cool doesn't actually fit the narrative, I will remove it (eventually), but again, that's not "necessity." That narrative consistency.
