I set up this raspberry pi zero with a microcenter 16 gb thumb drive to act as a secret mini nas. That was on March 16 2024. It survived until yesterday, May 22 2025. I actually used it a lot, as a cache for recent data.

The thing that got it in the end was not the micro sd containing the os, but rather the thumb drive would get a read error and lose mount.

Retired for now, a fairly successful experiment.
