Here in AZ they pushed solar, which was relatively appropriate. The electric company would pay you a very tiny amount for the excess solar you produced beyond your consumption. THen a year or so ago they reduced that pittance to a smidgen. Now they charge a surcharge to folks who sell them home solar. That far outweighs the smidgen.
Ten years ago reduced my summer electric bill from 450-500 buck a month to 15. Now its 25. Between the tax credits and electric bill savings I’ve now just about broken even. The panels still working at about 90%, supposed to be good another 15-20 years.
Have heliotrope device for pool. (only needed 6 months or less a year). I suppose I could look into some kind of heat pump for when the water is 80 or more if I really cared.
I don’t want batteries to store excess power - too much a fire hazard in my estimation, and a cooling issue in summer.
