The partition encryption was one of the attractions of Linux for them. Also, they had a fear of updating and losing their files. So I suggested separate /home for an additional layer of protection.
I do understand that you are trying to suggest some approach that works, but my toot is more about #Fedora rolling out relatively untested and unstable installer. When such issues happens on VM, god know how it would behave on baremetal.
