Something about elections that occurred to me this morning: I've never had the realistic option of voting for a woman in a UK general election. I've always lived in a marginal constituency, voted tactically, and the candidate most likely to beat the candidate I don't want to win has always been a man. Likewise in mayoral elections, and in EU elections you voted for a party list not a candidate.
