There is one thing I don't think we need in specialty coffee, except in high volume, profit-primary cafes:
Automatic tamping machines.
I get approached by these companies occasionally to review their products. I have no interest. At least not in standalone machines, just another doodad to add to your counter space.
That said, I recognize and see that for folks who "want" a "barista" experience at home, but get frustrated with tamping, machines like Breville's Impress lineup exist.
