CNN is a large enterprise owned by a much larger enterprise. There are numerous ways to pay for coverage, which to date on cable, satellite, and the Web has been ad-sponsored (to say the least -- deep and heavy ad runs, mostly from Big Pharma on the U.S. linear channel).
Given the vast range of free misinformation sources, throttling people looking for accurate information is not only self-defeating, but damaging to society as the trend permeates more of the industry.
This should be obvious to all observers.
