Both death penalty and lifelong imprisonment are barbarian practices and vestiges from a less civilized era. They don't solve anything, and eventually end up costing a lot of money to taxpayers too.
But cases like this guy really challenge l my beliefs.
What would you do to a guy who drives hundreds of miles to a shopping mall at the border with the sole purpose of shooting at anyone who he perceives as a migrant?
Is there even any hope of reforming someone who is capable of so much gratuitous, coldly pre-meditated evil?
A part of me keeps saying "the real criminals are those who can legally murder another human being, often in atrocious ways, or who lock up a person for life on taxpayers' money, without giving him another chance, until that guy loses his mind".
The other part of me says "if you are capable of such a pre-meditated and unjustified hate crime against a minority, then a bullet in your skull is all you deserve - you're unforgivable, and maybe you'll be a better person in the next life".
