Relay queries will help a lot once we start rolling out outbox to #damus #notedeck and iOS. tracking note provenance over time will enable relay feeds: only show notes from closed relays such as pyramid.fiatjaf.com, purple.damus.io etc.
This is particularily important for #nip29 style closed communities, where you really only want to show the notes that came from that particular relay, ignoring others. This will also enable you to interact with these communities offline like everything else in #notedeck (and soon iOS).
We can *kinda* do this today, but only if we re-download the notes from the relay. During the session we know which relay the note came from, but this information is lost on restart.
Another cool thing is that we can start collecting interesting stats about where notes are stored so that we can gauge how decentralized nostr is:
Eventually we can run algorithms to find content that is not well connected to the rest of the network, like notes hidden away on smaller relays.
Curious what others might come up with using this feature...
you can query by relays now with #nostrdb
