Welp technically Y6 was supposed to be Kiryu's final adventure (at least it was advertised that way instead of Y5) but the thing is it was Nagoshi-san's decision to end Kiryu's journey in Y6. But then he left both RGG Studio and SEGA. So now we can see that our lovely old man can't have a rest once again. My guess is that they are either trying to give Kiryu a more satisfying ending than it was in Y6 (some fans are arguing about how good or bad it was) or just simply milking the well-known character. Maybe both, actually.

Well they did Kiwami 2 right after Y6 (yep, in case some people didn't know, they did Kiwami 2 only after Y6). And after that they were busy with plenty of spin-off installments: Fist of the North Star game, Judgment (still looking forward for you to play it, it's awesome, especially Lost Judgment (one of the best in the whole franchise and one of the best games I've ever played tbh)), RGG Online that presented a brand new character ichiban Kasuga, and only after all that they've created the next [main] installment Y:LAD. And after Y:LAD they were busy with spin-offs again: Lost Judgment and Ishin! Kiwami. And here we are, LAD: Gaiden and Infinite Wealth, which stars Kiryu Kazuma as the main or one of the main characters. Basically what I'm trying to say is that it was technically only one main game in the series without Kiryu as the protagonist. But yeah, in any case it was ages ago since we played as Kiryu (Kiwami 2 released in 2017, it's been six years already wow)
