And honestly I think it's a good strategy for new services and I believe you can be pretty open about it. Allow for free accounts but offer paid for the first year or so. After the year, no longer allow free accounts for hosting repos and all the other services (but you must allow free accounts/interaction for external contributors, e.g bug reporting). It's like a trial run.",
