Art book update 💫
I've come to realise that NoGood is essentially a throwback my teenage years. When I recorded songs from the radio on cassette tapes and modded my Playstation to play a pirated copy of Winning Eleven. Torrenting Japanese pop records on Napster as I learned about bitrates, open ports and file types and tried out all the different WinAmp skins.
The books design should somehow reflect these analog years. The late 90's and early 00's. The floppy disks, game cartridges, Casio watches and replaceable batteries and Playstations. The exciting and weird beginnings of the internet.
I discussed this with two printers last week. They showed me a lot of examples and beautifully designed books which in turn sparked a lot of new ideas. My favourites (and must haves) are printed Swiss bound open spines and using various paper stock and weights throughout the book.
I have a clearer picture of the books design now, and a better idea about the production costs as well. I'm very excited to start designing the first drafts. Keep you posted!
