You can even disconnect the ground wire completely after the initial handshake, and it keeps working. You can of course still get 8 kHz interference via power supply modulation or other routes as the USB processing happens in bursts. It's not particularly difficult to keep it well below audible levels, but some designs really cut all the corners.",
