Good experience in public transportation: Los Angeles: all subway stations have ticket vending machines that distribute contactless transit cards.
Bad experience in public transportation: San Diego: get on a bus at the airport, you can pay for a day pass and ride that one line, but you don't get the actual pass, you get a receipt, and you have to go stand in line at the central office downtown to get your pass.
I'll be trying Athens (Greece) this week wish me luck!
