This topic endlessly fascinates me, because in my opinion, I don't see any reason for repeating myself, when I have the power to avoid it. So I prefer concatenation. But I also heavily rely on BEM and my inner speech that reasons about these things is not "Here I am selecting 'my class thing'", instead it goes "Here I am selecting 'thing' of 'my class'". Does that make sense?

"thing" is an element of "my-class". Concatenation more congruently documents this relationship, imho.
