hopping around bookstores lately and im noticing some reissues around a few of portugal's most famous writers/poets, and there's a saying i saw when i was looking into it:
"It is sometimes said that the four greatest Portuguese poets of modern times are Fernando Pessoa."
he certainly seems to have been a visibly plural writer working in the early 1900s, having over 70 alters apparently but three of them most prominently became acclaimed writers:

but clearly the whole system produced a lot of work w/ a lot of different ppl fronting, generally very highly regarded and seems to be a point of pride for portuguese arts in general :)
just found it fascinating to hear about, i def want to dig into his writing. apologies if i worded anything in poor taste, was trying to strike a middle balance between the language i hear people using and the language i see writing about him written in
