It is very clear that the regime in Russia is authoritarian and the regime in the US is not. I would then expect much more direct control of the press. I doubt that there is any in the US.
I do wonder though if the image of Putin as a Napoleon like figure in control of everything is partly Putin propaganda and partly distance. From Russia I'm sure that everything looks like Biden's doing, maybe not now that he is on the way out politically, physically and mentally.
anyway, I guess that what matters to my daily life, being in the west, is how poisoned our public discourse is. My guess is that a pretty tiny fraction of that is direct disinfo from the powers that be in the west or in Asia. Maybe I'm wrong.
