When someone rants about how "woke" was somehow this uniquely vicious phenomenon of social pressure, I always laugh because I have any memory whatsoever of anything.
It's illustrative to compare the "social justice mob" pushing new norms against racist language with like the decades of cultural elites aggressively shaming normie Nickelback fans.
Say what you will about those Nickelback fans, they didn't burn down the country in response.
