Pretty much all of these types are, from those trolling Chris Chan to get a spot in "christory" to the prank call group I mentioned which didn't care until the heat level got literally too high to continue. They don't just do it for the thrill of it, but also for the attention.
The backgrounds vary but the one constant is they've never had to face consequences IRL or online for their behavior. In a few of them the individuals involved have been band/theater kids living in McMansions and having spoiled lives. Other times they're retards left to their own devices.
