People concerned with making the delete a SHOULD won't solve the issue of knowing your post data is deleted. It is a spec relays choose to follow. Some sort of proof of delete would be required to know a relay didnt advertise it met the spec but chose not to delete it.
However by nature of the nostr architecture people have already chosen they are ok to trust their data storage to a relay they don't control.
