macOS has much less legacy and hardware to support, and therefore it is less complex. The less complexity something has, the less susceptible it is to such mistakes. And forcing some good practices (like not allowing kernel extensions/moving stuff to userspace) while it may be a PITA (mostly for developers, and sometimes for users too) turns out being good in the end.
