One difference between now and January (when no House business could be conducted until a speaker selected) is that now there’s a set of House rules in operation. There can be a temporary Speaker (Speaker Pro Tem) to allow for at least some legislative activity to occur. That person will be Rep. McHenry (R-NC10).
