FFS, early on (before Star Fox 64) people doubted that the console would even be capable of reproducing decent-sounding voices!
Hell, I remember when OoT's cartridge size was supposed to be absolutely extreme, and pushing the N64 past its limits - but later on we got all sorts of legitimately insane feats, like the Resident Evil 2 port, and the Pokemon Puzzle League FMV opening.
