yeah...as far as I know, the only way to stop it would be to block the communities that are doing it. They use the same username syntax as the rest of Fedi so if it's the "Fediverse" community on fedia.io it would be @ fediverse@fedia.io without the spaces.
If you find another way, let me know because it happened to me in the past and was also annoying as hell. Too many people trying to dunk on you for upvotes.
