Everyone is allegedly so pro-democracy, yet there will never, ever be a scenario where the elected's legal authority extends ONLY to those who voted for them.
There isn't even a ballot option of 'no confidence'.
Certainly not in the US, the alleged 'beacon' of democracy.
The 'will of the people', at best, is the majority giving themselves the 'authority' to rape, steal, confine, or murder.
