The event I was at the other day was in a workies club.
The first time I had to visit the loo, I realised something had changed. I was in threat mode. I transitioned a decade ago, and I hadn't been nervous about going to the Ladies' for many years. I was assessing risk, checking corners.
The vibe, the atmosphere in this country is different. I'm not particularly worried about my own safety, yet. I'm getting on in years but Ive spent too much of my life on martial arts mats to lose it that quickly. That's not the point.
The point is the unease, then the fear, then the anxiety. This is what they want.
