$elfish gene on Nostr: I'm a bitcoiner OG. When bitcoin stopped being used as money and mainstream ...

I'm a bitcoiner OG. When bitcoin stopped being used as money and mainstream developers started talking about using credit cards instead of actually using bitcoins, I thought the way forward might be BCH.

Now BCH developers have made a lot of mistakes and BTC has won the popularity war, but I'm still worried about lightning. All along, all I wanted was decentralized, reliable, non-inflationary money. However, lightning is becoming very centralized. It seems to be living up to all the worst expectations of BCH/decentralized money advocates.

For example, now to use lightning on nostr, you basically have to use a custodial wallet to get a lightning address (one of those email format addresses for your LN wallet). Yes, you can use your own nostr, but no one normal will do that. I want decentralized money for everyone. I don't want everyone to be censored except for a few geeks running their own nodes.

My real concern now is, can I really support lightning in the future if it leads to that level of centralized control? Can I really promote this technology if it drives everyone into custodial purses? Or is there any hope for true decentralization without people running their own nodes? ......

Honestly, I'm not tied to any particular technology. I just want to really have free money for everyone - so people can avoid fiat money. To do that, we need to have easy-to-use wallets, free of censorship and centralized control, and we need vendors to accept them directly so that we are not subject to bottlenecks in the form of exchanges just to spend our money. money.

Who here is really willing to answer this post honestly and think about the future of our monetary freedom? Do we need a different solution? Could it be something like a different 2L on bitcoin based on zk evidence? Honestly, I don't care what it is, but we can't get stuck on technology that is subject to censorship and bottlenecks. We have to preserve and expand the freedom that Bitcoin originally envisioned and gave us.
