#WritersCoffeeClub 18: Have you written sections where the action occurs against the clock? How did you do it?
In a literal but maybe unexpected way, yes, I have. The combat in my first novel* happens entirely inside fighting games, which have timed rounds.
Essentially I tried to develop prose that gave a sense of rapidity and urgency without ever explicitly referring to seconds or minutes. If you can get the reader to feel pressed for time, that's all you need.
