While it is helpful to a degree that oil & gas has largely replaced coal, UKs nuclear isn't nearly as helpful - and, presumably, accepted - as France. Nuclear is base load power, and very energy dense. Environmentally questionable, of course, but a few new plants would help considerably during the transitioning away from oil & gas. 1/
