Yes, we have a number of forests here in the US which date back to the last time they were cleared. Fortunately there are many good movements toward preservation. Some of the hiking trails I use in the White Mountains were logging trails when they used to log those mountains. Fortunately, the area is now preserved forever making for great hiking!
