even low alpha hops taste strongly bitter (I ate a hallertauer hop), I can't even imagine eating a high alpha hop, lol. And yes, the bitterness just sticks to your tongue forever too.
Just think about how little amout of hops are used to bitter a large amount of beer: a few oz of hops for 5 gallons of beer.
