#WordWeavers 21 — “If a scene is boring, add dragons.” What do you do if a scene is boring?
Like many others, I try to figure out why it's boring.
- does it have a purpose?
- does it have enough conflict (internal/external) and tension?
- does it reveal something important?
- does it move the story along?
If the answer is no to all the above, it's probably unnecessary and can be either cut or fixed by adding what's missing.
