I’m not following this very closely but since 45**91 injected his extremely toxic masculinity mind-set, this ‘I’m ignoring your authority’ move by Hunter is almost the same ‘Big D*^k’ move they keep making as the GQP. And since Boebert/MTG (?) flashed the proof to all, I think the stakes have been raised, metaphorically speaking.
